Joe’s calling to become a Christian financial advisor came at a young age. The only thing his parents argued about was money. As he got older, he saw good-hearted families, including local farmers, lose everything due to misunderstandings about the tax code. It wasn’t carelessness, they simply didn’t know the right questions to ask.
One defining moment came in 1986, when a single mother Joe knew had diligently saved in a 403(b) account to send her son to college. When the tax code changed, her savings became inaccessible for its intended purpose. She followed every rule she was told, but the rules changed, and no one told her.
That was the final straw. Joe knew families needed more than advice, they needed someone to walk with them, educate them, and advocate for them. His takeaway was simple: families need clarity, not complexity, to protect what they’ve built. That lesson became the foundation for everything that followed.
At Financial Enhancement Group (FEG), our mission is to help families enjoy life after work without the burden of financial confusion. Our proprietary Family Focus® Process is central to everything we do and we refuse to deviate from it.
We take care of people who don’t want to worry about their money. We do it with care and consideration to help protect your family for generations to come and support the causes you care about most today.
Our families include retirees, business owners, professors, executives, teachers, doctors, farmers, pastors, and engineers, people who want to be cared for by professionals they trust to honor both their financial goals and their guiding values. This is the heart of values based financial planning, and it’s what we practice every day at FEG.
We don’t chase commissions or predictions. We don’t push products. We walk alongside you, helping you make thoughtful financial decisions with peace of mind. This is what makes FEG, FEG.
Financial Enhancement Group was founded in 1997 to bridge the gap between financial planning and investment management. At
the time, the industry treated them as separate worlds, creating silos that hindered real success for families.
Joseph Clark, CFP®, and his now longtime friend and partner,
Don Hodson, EA, knew they could change that. Combining Joe’s investment, insurance, and financial planning background with Don’s accounting and tax experience, they built a values-driven wealth management firm grounded in clarity, consistency, and care.
Their first office opened in Anderson, Indiana, followed by a partnership with Huth Thompson, LLC in Lafayette, expanding the firm’s reach across Central Indiana, Georgia, California, and serving families in more than 30 states (and counting).
Over the years, FEG has expanded to Indianapolis & Brownsburg, Indiana, and Woodstock, Georgia, as well as virtual offices throughout California, growing our team and our reach. Today, we manage more than $980 million in assets and serve families in over 30 states.
Our team of Christian financial advisors includes CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professionals, a Certified Kingdom Advisor®, a Chartered Market Technician, a Chartered Financial Analyst®, and an Enrolled Agent with the U.S. Treasury, plus a dedicated support team committed to making the complex simple.
We continue to partner with accounting firms and professional allies, because successful financial planning is always a collaborative effort.
Joe is the co-founder and managing partner of Financial Enhancement Group. With over 35 years in the financial services industry, he leads FEG’s strategic direction and guides families through their financial journey using the Family Focus® Process. Joe enjoys collaborating with CPAs and attorneys to simplify complexity for the families FEG serves.
A former adjunct professor at Purdue and past director with the Financial Planning Association, Joe and his wife Barbara attend Northview Church in Anderson and love spending time with their daughters, grandkids, and rescue lab. He’s an avid golfer, diver, and traveler.
Don co-founded Financial Enhancement Group in 1997 and now serves as partner and chief compliance officer. A tax specialist since 1982, Don became an Enrolled Agent in 1989 and has overseen FEG’s growth with a strong focus on regulatory integrity and internal compliance.
Don is a proud dad of three and grandpa to four granddaughters. Outside the office, you’ll find him hunting, fishing, woodworking, or under the hood of a car.
