Don Hodson serves as Chief Compliance Officer at Financial Enhancement Group, where he helps ensure the firm operates within SEC and state regulatory requirements, as well as FEG’s internal policies and procedures. Don joined forces with Joe Clark in 1997 to help start FEG, and over the years, he has held nearly every position and done nearly every job within the firm.
As Chief Compliance Officer, Don helps sustain FEG’s culture of ethics, accountability, and regulatory care. His work includes overseeing the firm’s compliance program, maintaining policies and procedures, supporting annual reviews and risk assessments, leading audit readiness, and helping ensure important regulatory filings and disclosures remain accurate and complete.
Don also supervises key areas of firm compliance, including advertising, electronic communications, trading, and code of ethics standards. He helps conduct firmwide training, manage examinations and remediation, report material issues to leadership, oversee corrective actions, and work with regulators, examiners, and external counsel when needed. Much of his work happens behind the scenes, but it is essential to protecting the firm, supporting the team, and helping ensure families are served with consistency and care.
Don’s professional foundation began in public accounting. He started working at a CPA firm in 1982, where his passion for taxation became clear. In 1989, he became an Enrolled Agent with the Treasury Department, and in 1990, he founded his own accounting and tax firm, which he scaled and operated until co-founding FEG. In 2010, Don passed the Securities Principal Examination, adding another layer of leadership and regulatory knowledge to his decades of experience.
At FEG, Don brings a rare depth of institutional knowledge. Because he has served in so many roles across the firm, he understands both the details of the work and the bigger picture of how each area connects. His leadership reflects steadiness, judgment, integrity, and a long-standing commitment to helping FEG grow the right way.
Outside of work, Don is the proud father of three children, Adria, Chantz, and Zaria, and the grandfather of four little girls. When he is not in the office with his work family, he enjoys spending time outside, including hunting, fishing, woodworking, and working on cars.
